ACPUB E-mail Issues - RESOLVED

Users of ACPUB e-mails (netid@duke.edu) with netid's starting with G through M might experience issues with their e-mail today. OIT is working to address this, and we are aware. You can read more about the problem on the OIT website, which is also where OIT will announce the resolution of the issue. We will try to keep you updated here as well.

EDIT*
As of approximately 12 noon today [November 20, 2008], the DukeMail system is stable. Thunderbird
users with NetIDs g - m may still experience slowness when processing commands
such as DELETE, MOVE and COMPOSE. Please distribute the fix described
immediately below to your Thunderbird users.

To eliminate slowness issues in Thunderbird, you should disable the IDLE
command following these steps:

(1.) In the Tools menu, go to Account Settings>Server Settings>Advanced and
uncheck the box to "Use IDLE command if the server supports it."
(2.) Close and then restart Thunderbird.

If you do not see improved performance after following these steps, please
contact the OIT service desk for assistance at 684-2200.

Thanks,
Debbie DeVulia
