Software & Licensing
Pratt software licenses are available to faculty, staff, and students of the Duke Pratt School of Engineering.
When contacting help@pratt.duke.edu about a software license, please include the lab, course, or class for which the software is required.
Students and educators have access to Autodesk applications, including Revit, Fusion 360, and AutoCAD.
BioRender is a professional scientific illustration and visualization tool available to Pratt faculty and students who need it for research.
Our license has a limited number of seats, so access is typically granted for a specified period of time. BioRender licenses are not available through Pratt to users outside the Pratt School of Engineering community.
How do I get access to BioRender?
Contact help@pratt.duke.edu. We will add you to the access list and provide a link to the access portal, where you can sign in using your Duke NetID.
Pratt provides CrashPlan for laptop backups.
What is SolidWorks?
SolidWorks is an industry-standard computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) solid modeling application developed by Dassault Systèmes.
How do I obtain SolidWorks?
IIf you are enrolled in a class or independent study that requires SolidWorks and have not received installation instructions, contact help@pratt.duke.edu.
The SolidWorks Education Edition license is for educational purposes only and is available only to members of the Pratt School of Engineering community.
Can I access SolidWorks from a Mac?
We currently recommend that Mac users run SolidWorks on a VCM virtual machine and access it through Microsoft Remote Desktop.
Intel-based Macs supported Boot Camp and could run SolidWorks on a Windows partition. Macs with Apple silicon do not support Boot Camp.
