Upgrade from Windows 10 to 11

Step 1: Download the Installation Assistant

Navigate to the official Microsoft Windows 11 download page at:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11
Click on the “Download Now” button under Windows 11 Installation Assistant.

Step 2: Open the Installation File

In your browser's download tray (or in the Downloads folder) select “Open file” to begin the installation process.

Step 3: Run the Installation Assistant and Get PC Health Check

Allow the file to run on your computer by confirming any security or User Account Control (UAC) prompts.

Some computers will go straight to Step 9. Others will be prompted to click on “Get PC Health Check app” to verify that your device meets the requirements for Windows 11.

Step 4: Open the PC Health Check App

Once the PC Health Check installer is downloaded, locate the file (in the browser tray or Downloads folder) and open it to begin the compatibility check.

Step 5: Accept Terms and Install the App

When the setup window appears, check “I accept the terms in the License Agreement”.
Next, click “Install” to proceed with the PC Health Check installation.

Step 6: Run the Compatibility Check

After installation, open the PC Health Check app.
Click “Check now” to see if your PC meets the requirements to upgrade to Windows 11.

Step 7: Review Result and Return to the Installation Assistant

The PC Health Check app may display a message indicating that your organization manages updates on this PC.
You can ignore this message. Simply return to the Windows 11 Installation Assistant to continue the upgrade process.

Step 8: Refresh the Installation Assistant

In the Windows 11 Installation Assistant window, click “Refresh” to update the compatibility status.

Step 9: Accept and Begin Installation

After confirming compatibility, return to the Windows 11 Installation Assistant and follow the on-screen prompts. The installation typically takes about an hour. It will need to restart once complete. You can work on your machine while it updates, but the update does not need to be monitored and can run overnight.
Click “Accept and install” to begin upgrading your PC to Windows 11.
